| Wyong training track opened The Wyong Race Club has opened its new sand track and the surface has received widespread praise from local trainers. The track replaces the synthetic surface that the club lost when it was washed away in the floods of 2007. “The trainers by and large are thrilled with what has taken place,” Wyong chief executive Tony Drew said. “I believe we now have two of the best training tracks in NSW.” Racing NSW assisted the Central Coast based race club with the submission of the insurance claim against the damage to the old training surface. “We matched the money that came from the insurance claim, dollar for dollar, to build this training track and we are so happy with how it has all turned out,’ Drew said. Wyong trainer Michael Clout said the surface had given trainers more options with their horse and despite the wait the end result is pleasing. “It’s a great surface,’ Clout said. “The board and track committee has been very happy wo work with us through the whole process and the end result will benefit all of us. “Once it consolidates the track will get better and better and within two months the benefits will be there for all to see with our trainers results on the racetrack.
